The Porsche 356 was revised several times, and the last revised edition was the Porsche 356C came out in 1964. The monocoque construction made it difficult to fix cars when they were parked in rust-prone conditions.

Engine for the 356

Porsche used the OHV V4 engine on the Porsche 356 for sale which was actually first designed to be used in a Volkswagen Beetle. The Porsche 356 was well equipped with new dual carburetor, exhaust system, and camshaft. This helped the car to produce more horsepower than what a Volkswagen Beetle could produce.

The starting Porsche 356 models were available with mid-engine layout. However, the models that came out later had rear-mounted layout. When the Carrera engine was launched in 1955, Porsche made the engine available as an optional upgrade at an extra price.
